ALOCASIA ‘SEGORO BIRU’

Alocasia baginda ‘Silver Dragon’ x Alocasia reginula ‘Black Velvet’

PARENTAGE: Alocasia baginda ‘Silver Dragon’ x Alocasia reginula ‘Black Velvet’

HYBRIDIZER: Heri Nugroho (Central Java, Indonesia - circa 2019)

VARIEGATION: N/A

DESCRIPTION: Alocasia ‘Segoro Biru’ translates from Javanese as Alocasia ‘Blue Sea’. The name was a suggestion from a Mrs. Ino from Yogyakarta, who is a prominent Caladium grower. It is a dark hybrid that retains some of the velvety qualities of Alocasia reginula ‘Black Velvet’ and even shimmers when viewed from certain angles

It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as Alocasia ‘Black Maharani’, and sometimes mistaken for Alocasia ‘Black Dragon’ (see comparison photos below)
